The Colosseum Arena

  • View
  • Outline

The Colosseum Arena Itself
The Arena has two parts.
The upper, outdoors part is a plain 7x5 grid.
Under this arena is a cellar, accessed by two stairs. The cellar is a bit like a maze, with winding, narrow corridors, animal cages and some maintenance rooms. This part is good for ambush, and it also has some extra features and twists.
There is a Healer in one of the Cellar Rooms and another one in Gladiator School.
Two Staircases connect the upper Arena with the Cellar.

The Gladiator School: Food and Drink, Heals and other supplies
There is a Gladiator School, which works a bit like a Clan hall, and has some supply shops.
All the ‘shops’ in the Gladiator Hall are free however, since the Gladiators have little means to earn money.

Hunger and thirst will affect the regen rate negatively, so better eat and drink before a fight.

Most of the rooms in the Gladiator School are set as PEACEFUL, but there is a small Training Arena (2x2 rooms) for those who want to spar between the real fights, and a ‘trainer’ mob to try your luck on, if you lack a sparring partner.

Normally the Gladiators cannot get to the Gladiator School during an arena fight, so they will have to bunk up on supplies before the Arena starts. If they leave the Arena during a fight, they’ll not be able to get back in and will have lost that fight, even if they survived.
- A fountain in the Gladiator School is filled with milk.
- There are also mobs in the Gladiator School that ‘sell’ various things free of charge
* Gallico, the cook ‘sells’ food and drink (including booze).
* Sanitarius, the healer ‘sells’ heal and sanc potions. (The amount the Gladiators can bring into the Arena is restricted to 20 heals and 4 sancs). He also sells identify and detect_invis scrolls.
* Il Dottore, the Trainer 'sells' all the generic types of weapons and armor, for those who want a different setup than the one they load with.

Public parts of The Gladiator zone
There is a 3 room big Gladiator Office, with entrance from the Map Room, all south from the Arena. The main Office has some general info about Gladiator Events, Arena types, Rules etc. There is also a Sponsor’s Lounge, with info about the Sponsors and their Gladiators, and a Gladiator Hall of Fame, where records of the results will be kept.

From the Gladiator Office you can enter the Spectator’s Galleries, from which the fights can be viewed. There are two galleries, one to the Main Arena, one to the smaller Training Arena in the Gladiator School. You can look out over the Arenas from the Gallery, but the spectators cannot enter the arena itself. A special code will allow you to view what happens in the sector that you are in, and to hear some of the sounds from other sectors and from the Cellar part of the Arena.

A Map of the Gladiator Arena can be viewed here.
