Gladiator Games

Different types of Gladiator Games

Official Gladiator Games will be held at least twice a year, or more frequently upon request from more than 5 players. Anyone, regardless of level, can take part in these open games, and any imm can run them, using the scripts in the Control Room. (26799).
Each Official Gladiator Event will be announced on the Recall Board at least 1 week ahead of the Game, and players will have to register for it by note or mudmail before the event takes place.

Any player can also sponsor an Official Gladiator event, at the cost of 5 silver. The minimum number of contestants for this is 3.

Between the official Games, there will be the chance of getting access to a Gladiator for training fights, and to get familiar with both the Gladiator skills and the surroundings, either in the large Arena (70 rooms) or in the smaller Gladiator Training Arena (4 rooms). This access will come at a cost, preliminary 2 silver per Gladiator and day in the big Arena and 2 bronze per Gladiator and day in the smaller Arena.

Seekers will get a reduced price for the access of the Arena, as a chance to get the feel of running a strong character. In their case the price will be 2 brass/day for full access and 1 brass/day for limited access. (This reduced price will not apply if the character is an alt to an older player. See also Rules, point 6).
There can be several types of Gladiator Games, for instance;
- one-against-one duels
- knock-out tournaments
- all-against-all tournaments
- larger melees, where all Gladiators fight all others at the same time
- Clan-against-Clan melees
*
- with or without scattered heals
- with or without scattered equipment
- with or without scattered cage keys
- with or without loose animals
- with or without mounts
- with or without access to the cellar part of the Arena

Rules for the games

1. The Gladiators are all similar level and tier, and have equally balanced stats and equipment. There are 2 sets of Gladiator for each of the 8 classes, all in all 16 different Gladiator chars.
2. The Gladiators in the Official Events will normally be lotted among the competitors, but on request there can also be other types of games, for instance
- same class duels
- free choice of class duels
- free choice of Gladiator duels.
3. Immediately before an event, the competitors will get access to the password of their assigned Gladiator, and keep this access as long as the event lasts. Immediately after the event the passwords will be changed back again, and only be accessible for imms. During the event but between fights Gladiators will only have access to the Gladiator School and Training Arena.
4. Tracks will be kept on the individual results in each official Gladiator Game, and also of which player that ran the Gladiators during each event. These records will be kept in the Gladiator Hall of Fame.
5. If one Gladiator Class is found to be significantly superior to the others during the events, (regardless of who runs the char), this should lead to the balance between the Classes being tweaked.
6. Anyone caught cheating with the Gladiators, for instance by getting unapproved access to the passwords or posing as a 'new' player, will be barred from ALL Gladiator events for the time of 6 months. Isp addresses can and will be checked, if necessary).
